GreenSTOP was conceived in December 2014 after Timothy Island had finally had it with the traditional cannabis dispensary experience. He constantly experienced long lines, inconsistent products and inconsistent customer service. Timothy thought there had to be a better way. That’s when he imagined GreenSTOP’s smart dispensary fully automated through hardware and software. He wanted to be able to consult with product experts but also purchase cannabis in seconds when he was in a rush. Timothy partnered up with James Edwards who has an extensive background in retail to bring their joined vision GreenSTOP into fruition. Together Timothy and James have created GreenSTOP’s fully integrated, self-service platform to revolutionize the legal cannabis retail space.

James is a member of the California Cannabis Advisory Committee that advises the California Bureau of Cannabis Control and the other licensing authorities–the California Department of Food and Agriculture and the California Department of Public Health–on the development of regulations that help protect public health and safety and reduce the illegal market for cannabis. James also is a prominent business leader, political consultant, and an avid defender of human and civil rights. He is co-owner of First Federal Financial Services, a credit card processing firm, a founding stockholder of Revere Bank, and an avid fine art collector. James earned his J.D. from Humphrey’s School of Law, and his B.A. from University of California, Riverside.James Sweeney sadly passed away Feb 28 2020.
